
Imagine that each class has the same abilities as all the non-magical and magical classes, just in more generic forms. If you're having trouble seeing the difference, think about what it would be like if you got rid of all classes and just had two: Martial and Mage. It lets players roleplay in different ways.

For example, a Necromancer and a Cultist fit very similar archetypal roles (both are minion classes with a dark magic subtheme) but a Cultist is a darker take on the idea, more of an antihero class. Even if two classes are part of the same archetype they can feel very different based on the theming of the classes. New in this case is a theme that hasn't been done before.
